The St. Elizabeth Seton Social Action Ministry meets monthly on the first Thursday of the month in the St. Elizabeth Seton Conference Room located in the Parish Office. The Social Action Ministry is open to all who desire to work through the parish on social action and justice projects.
How We Serve
The St. Elizabeth Social Action Ministry cooks every third Sunday and fifth Saturday of the month at the Daybreak Shelter, 611 Cass Ave. in Joliet and serves the homeless at the Shepherd's Table Soup Kitchen. St. ELizabeth Seton Church and St. Procopius Church have been paired through the Archdiocese program that brings together diverse parishes in order to increase the effectiveness of each parish. Annually, we hold collection drives for clothing, household items, Christmas presents, and Thanksgiving turkeys and hams. Monthly envelopes are also offered to contribute to the financial support of St. Procopius. St. Procopius responds regularlly with thanks, shared liturgies, and annually extends an invitation to attend their Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe Celebration.
Workshops are offered to make desperately needed burial cloths for the deceased people of Haiti. Flat sheets and pillowcases are always appreciated.
