Seton Sowers
The Seton Sowers Chapter of Newborns in Need, Northern Illinois District, is a non-profit charity that specializes in the needs of premature and newborn babies that are sick or in crisis. Each year thousands of babies are admitted for care in hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Units. Due to the babies’ extremely small size, there is a shortage of hospital gowns, sleepers, and other garments tiny enough for them to wear. Some poor babies need clothing for the trip home from the hospital. In additional baby items are donated to homeless shelters and crisis centers, etc. The Sowers have three needs: Volunteers to help make baby items; contributions of fabric and yarn; and money contributions to purchase the materials.

Baptismal Garment Sewers
Each infant that is baptized at St. Elizabeth Seton Parish receives a gift of a baptismal garment that is hand embroidered by a member of the parish. During the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism, each child is covered with one of these garments as a symbol of their new life in Christ. The parishioners who sew and embroider these baptismal garments create a one-of-a-kind keepsake for the infants.
